There is growing scientific evidence that suggests that the earlier an HIV positive person starts treatment, the better the chances that he or she will live a long, healthy and productive life.
Still, many challenges hamper the achievement of universal HIV treatment in Kenya. The good news is that data analysis shows that the challenges are not insurmountable. The benefits of starting antiretroviral therapy early far outweigh the initial cost of scaling up treatment. Such benefits go to the individual and the country broadly. This picture of the pandemic helps Kenyans appreciate the most sensible response to the virus.
