To be abreast changing technologies and research and information needs of communities across the world, Internews has created the Center for Innovation and Learning. Internews senior Vice President Mark Frohardt will lead the Center as Executive Director.
“There is a completely new world,” said Frohardt during a meeting to introduce the project to Internewsers in Kenya,” There are new tools being introduced and few people are doing research on this.”

The Center will also serve as a hub to inform and engage others in the fields of media, information technology and development.
One of the innovative projects that will be launched in Kenya is called mobi-cash .It will enable listeners of community radio stations to use their mobile phones to prepay for salaams (a popular practice where listeners send greetings to friends and relatives on air).
